First; Anyone experienced with carpentry or building small structures, respond here. I have a small project for you if you're so inclined. We can work out a deal if necessary.

All Cadets: We'll be establishing a training schedule at the end of the week. Consider this some extra free time to become familiar with the area and check in with Erwin if you learn something that seems important.

[action; Levi woke up this morning with the full force of a cold which is likely the direct result of being dragged into a fountain of cold water thanks to Hange when she first arrived (or so he assumes). He's hacking up a lung and generally crankier than usual and staying in bed for the next two days drinking tea and sleeping and probably not going to be the most pleasant person to interact with, so approach at your own risk.]

Is healing how they usually deal with illness in your world?

[ Levi is so bundled up that Erwin can hardly see him apart from his face and hands, so his shuffling is rather comical. Thankfully, Erwin knows better than to laugh. ]

What are your symptoms, beyond the obvious?

[ Yes, he's ignoring Levi's not so subtle suggestion that he should leave. ]

We'll do our best.

[The last comment takes him by surprise. Not just because Captain Levi's asking how he's holding up, but because he's apologizing for not asking sooner.]

I'm doing fine. It's a little tricky in school sometimes, but as long as I have something to write on, I can still participate in classes. [Just... a little slower sometimes, because whenever he has a question he can't just ask it immediately.]

All right. See you in an hour.

Sore throat, headache. Possibly a fever.

[he sips at the tea again, pleased at how the hot liquid soothes the ache in his throat. Levi wants to shuffle Erwin out quickly, but he can't exactly force him to go, for...several reasons.]

It's just a cold, Erwin.

[Ah. That one is tricky.]

I'm told that healing Psynergy like mine isn't very common. [Certainly, the Adepts she's met backed that up - there are few Mercury Adepts around to begin with.] Even then, sometimes the best I can do is ease someone's symptoms to make it easier for them to fight an illness themselves.

[he cares about the well being of his cadets, it just doesn't always show in obvious ways.]

You and Jean go just about every day, right? Should see if the others want to go, also.

Are you learning Luceti's magic there?

[that's not a term he's familiar with. As far as he knows, there's nothing like that where he's from.]

I see. Magic doesn't really exist in my world.

[ It isn't the cold Erwin is worried about, per se. Levi's been sick before in the time Erwin's known him. But he doesn't trust Luceti, and even an illness that begins as mundane as this could possibly turn out to be far more grave, the result of an experiment of some sort. He dearly hopes that isn't the case. ]

Let me see.

[ He settles on the edge of Levi's bed without invitation, reaching out to lay the back of his hand against his forehead. His lips twitch downward. ]

A fever seems likely.

[ His eyes fall closed as Erwin presses his hand there, noticeably cooler. After a moment Levi leans back, ducking his head to sip at the tea again so as not to prolong that contact more than necessary. The last thing he wants is to pass this on to Erwin. ]

All the more reason why you can't catch it.

[It's still relatively early in the morning when Petra drops by for a visit. She had debated for a little while whether or not Levi would appreciate visitors--on the one hand, it was Captain, on the other hand, he was still human enough to get sick. So she went with her instinct, if only just to check on him before being chased away, lightly knocking on the door before cracking it open, just enough to peek inside.]

Captain, may I come in?

[It might seem irrational to Levi, but worrying is in Petra's nature.]

[Farlan doesn't like to use the journals much for talking to people, but he checks them, so he's aware of Levi's condition.]

Hey, Levi!

[Farlan knocks on the door, but more as a courtesy than anything else, because a few moments later, he's opening it. He can't expect Levi to get out of of bed to open the door if he's sick enough to actually mention it.

Maybe the door wasn't actually unlocked beforehand, but that's immaterial. Once he has his head in the door, he looks around warily for Erwin--but he's not doing anything wrong, so it's fine. He's being considerate.]

It's me. I'm coming in, okay?

I have heard that about other worlds as well. There are some who think it does not exist even in mine. [Even with evidence - although a non-adept can't really see the evidence so it is a bit unfair.] You have technology instead?

[That's the most common other thing, to 'balance' the lack of magic she's heard about.]

[ Erwin doesn't let the touch linger either, pulling his hand back to settle it on his knee as he looks Levi over, expression carefully neutral beyond the concerned furrow of his brow. While he knows that Levi's desire to keep him well is genuine, he suspects that there is more reason behind his insistence than that. ]

I would like to help you get well however I may. Do you need anything else?

[ It's clear that Levi won't suffer his presence for much longer. ]

[The curtains are drawn with some sunlight coming in, and he's mostly trying to sleep - but it's hard when he's having harsh coughing fits every other minute.

He's not surprised to see Petra. In hindsight he should have left out the part about being sick, although that wouldn't have stayed secret for long, not especially among the people he knows here.

There's a mug of tea and a cup of water on the nightstand next to the bed, and Levi is leaning against several pillows stacked against the wall, eyes closed and trying to just. Breathe. It's difficult.]

Petra. [his voice is raspy and strained from the amount of coughing he's done already in the past several hours.]

Some water.

[well, a lot of it, but he'll settle for a glass at the moment. Between that and the tea, it'll help soothe his throat for now.

There's a strange, almost uncomfortable tension between them that rises sometimes, and it stretches now, obvious and strained. It's frustrating because it only seems to be worse the longer he tries to ignore it.

Finally, after a moment, he reaches over and curls his hand lightly over Erwin's wrist.]

[Levi doesn't tend to keep his own door locked, but their front door generally is, and Erwin is out at the moment. Still, he's not questioning how Farlan got in, nor is he necessarily surprised, particularly given their conversation a few days ago. If anything, he'd expected Farlan, actually.

He's just getting out of bed to go make himself more tea when the door opens. Between the fever and being out of the warmth of the bed, the chill is already starting to get to him. Levi leans heavily on the nightstand, coughing hard before he manages to speak.]

Farlan- [hey he didn't need his lungs or anything, right?]

...fuck. Help me make more tea.
