[action; Levi woke up this morning with the full force of a cold which is likely the direct result of being dragged into a fountain of cold water thanks to Hange when she first arrived (or so he assumes). He's hacking up a lung and generally crankier than usual and staying in bed for the next two days drinking tea and sleeping and probably not going to be the most pleasant person to interact with, so approach at your own risk.]

[ Erwin doesn't let the touch linger either, pulling his hand back to settle it on his knee as he looks Levi over, expression carefully neutral beyond the concerned furrow of his brow. While he knows that Levi's desire to keep him well is genuine, he suspects that there is more reason behind his insistence than that. ]

I would like to help you get well however I may. Do you need anything else?

[ It's clear that Levi won't suffer his presence for much longer. ]

[well, a lot of it, but he'll settle for a glass at the moment. Between that and the tea, it'll help soothe his throat for now.

There's a strange, almost uncomfortable tension between them that rises sometimes, and it stretches now, obvious and strained. It's frustrating because it only seems to be worse the longer he tries to ignore it.

Finally, after a moment, he reaches over and curls his hand lightly over Erwin's wrist.]

[ This silence really is getting awkward--it's been awkward for weeks now--and Erwin is about to break it by standing, has that water as an excuse to leave the room, but Levi's touch, however light, halts him. Erwin's mouth pulls tight in a not-quite-grimace. This is the most intentional physical contact they've shared since-- ]

Of course, Levi. This is the least I can do.

[ He's careful not to pull away suddenly or harshly, easing his wrist naturally from beneath Levi's fingers as he gets slowly to his feet. ]

I'll be back in a moment.

[ It's a little longer than that, but he returns soon with a glass of cool water, which he holds until Levi is ready to take it. ]

[Levi closes his eyes and sinks back against the pillows. What the fuck had that been? Stupid, that's what. Stupid and something he shouldn't have done. Fuck. He's blaming it on the fever.

He's coughing again when Erwin returns with the water, throat sore and ragged, and accepts it gratefully, downing approximately half the glass before setting it aside and leaning back again.]

[ Levi needn't chastise himself so harshly; it was a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, one that Erwin is already forcing to the back of his mind. He's more concerned with Levi's dry coughing. He sounds wretched. ]

I could go to the clinic and inquire about cold remedies.

[ Erwin still isn't entirely sure about the medicine here, but he'll look into it, at least. ]
