There's no way hearing someone you care for got chomped by a dragon isn't going to be upsetting - he's simply lost too many people, is painfully aware that he's likely to lose Finnick in some way, too. Would've been nice if Somnius hadn't seen fit to viscerally remind him of that so soon, even if it's never far from his mind.

Even if people can come back from the dead here, it doesn't lessen the pain and trauma of death in the first place.

But aside from the initial outburst and the frown of concern and frustration on his face, the worst of his worry seems appeased hearing that Finnick at least has someone who can properly look after him while he recovers.

"Good," he says, voice still a little edged, but he's not afraid to sound relieved.

"So, what - the overgrown lizard just attacked without warning?"
