First; Anyone experienced with carpentry or building small structures, respond here. I have a small project for you if you're so inclined. We can work out a deal if necessary.
Second; If you expected to meet with me today or tomorrow, consider our plans cancelled unless you wish to suffer from an upper respiratory infection.
[Filtered 85% to: Jean, Marco, Eren, Armin, Mikasa, Farlan, Petra, Hange, Erwin]
All Cadets: We'll be establishing a training schedule at the end of the week. Consider this some extra free time to become familiar with the area and check in with Erwin if you learn something that seems important.
Hange: This is your fault.
[action; Levi woke up this morning with the full force of a cold which is likely the direct result of being dragged into a fountain of cold water thanks to Hange when she first arrived (or so he assumes). He's hacking up a lung and generally crankier than usual and staying in bed for the next two days drinking tea and sleeping and probably not going to be the most pleasant person to interact with, so approach at your own risk.]

Lie down, Levi. Relax. You don't have to get up. Just tell me what to do. I can figure it out, but I don't know where any of your stuff is.

[he reaches out to put a hand on Farlan's shoulder, leaning on him as he tries to move past.]
Just help me. I'll show you.
no subject
[Farlan doesn't sound too sure about this, but he doesn't disagree with Levi's orders, even if he grumbles about them.]
You know, just because you're sick of staying in bed, that doesn't mean you should stop...
[He puts an arm around him to support him.]

[although he's shivering slightly, bare feet on a cold floor. Levi ends up wrapping an arm around Farlan in return, clinging slightly to him for warmth and support as they make their way to the kitchen.
The pot is still hot enough that the water doesn't need to be boiled again. Levi finds a tea strainer for the tea pot (might as well make a whole one instead of a cup each time) and sets it in before spooning some of the dried leaves into it.]
Pour the water in...then let it sit for a few minutes and throw the leaves out.
no subject
[But he sighs, because, obviously, Levi is stubborn and is coming along with him. Of course. He helps to hold him up as they go.]
Oh, is that all? That's not that hard, I just didn't know about taking the leaves out. You could have told me that from your bed, Levi.
[He has to shake his head at him.]
While you're here, though, we should have you breathe in some steam. That'll be good for you. I can boil some more water....
in this tag: gratuitous illness fluff opportunities
[Levi just nods, though, leaning a little more against Farlan. He doesn't need to, not really, but he knows that Farlan wants to help.]
Fine. M'gonna go sit down.
[It's a little more effort to shuffle himself over to a kitchen chair, settling himself down, crossing his legs. Out of bed and away from Farlan, there's not quite as much warmth. What's worse, he's barefoot, so his feet are touching the cool floor. Sitting at the table waiting, he coughs again, trying not to shiver.]
well, how could i pass that up?
Right, sit. You shouldn't be standing up for long. You don't look so good.
[As he puts more water on--boiling water, he can do--he notices Levi's coughing and shivering. He frowns in concern.]
Hold on a second--
[He hurries from the room and hurries back with a blanket from his bed. He drapes it over Levi, then carefully arranges it around him, so it covers him better.]
There. That's better.
you can't, clearly <3
Thanks.
[He watches Farlan, the ache that seems to well dully in his chest whenever he sees him is becoming familiar now. Sometimes he still has to do a little bit of a double take, but he's finding it comforting, even in this strange place, to have him nearby.]
So how're you doing in this place so far?
it's impossible
[He actually feels better, having Levi to look after. He feels a little aimless here otherwise.]
It's okay here. It's weird, but I really can't complain. There's enough to eat, and nothing's trying to kill me yet. It's not much like home.
I just have to figure out what I'm supposed to do here.

[He knows - because they discuss everything. Well...everything work related. Personal relationships are another matter. In the past, though, there was never any need to discuss the latter.]
no subject
[He's silent for a moment, frowning.]
I'm not really one of you, you know, so... It's probably better for me to operate in other ways.
[He shrugs. It's not that it doesn't bother him that things are so different, that he's apart, but what can he do about it? And he respects Levi's authority, still.]
Not that I have to follow his orders. But I'll follow yours.
no subject
[he pulls the blanket closer around his shoulders, and almost opens his mouth to say that Farlan more than anyone has the right to not follow him. But then he remembered that Farlan doesn't know anything about his stupidly selfish decisions that caused his death.
Levi stays silent for a moment before he finally responds.]
I want you to do whatever feels right. If that's following me, then I'm glad to have you with me again.
no subject
[He'd chosen to follow Levi of his own will, and he doesn't regret that decision.]
Good. Even if you weren't, it wouldn't be that easy to get rid of me.
[He smiles, though his heart isn't exactly in it, or the teasing. He knows Levi's upset about the reason they haven't seen each other, which Farlan doesn't particularly want to know about.]
So don't worry about it.
The steam's ready.
no subject
Thanks.
[which is also just as well, because he's coughing hard again.]
no subject
[He reaches out a hand to him, face softening.]
I'll help you up. And you'll feel better in a minute.

It's just gross anyway.
He grips Farlan's hand tighter than strictly necessary, perhaps. Every day he still wrestles with the realization that he's here. Farlan has to know by now what happened, and Levi owes him the honesty of saying that it was his fault. But he can't make himself bring it up, and Farlan hasn't asked.
So he'll wait if he ever asks.]
Thanks.

He's not sure what good knowing the truth would do. From what he understands, he won't be able to change anything back home. He'll just die, that's all. It's more than a little depressing. He sighs.]
No problem. Now just breathe this steam in. It'll make you feel better. And since you have some salt and pepper, we can use those to help you, too.
[He did go through the cabinets. Well, he had to. Salt and pepper are expensive at home and would have to be stolen, but that problem doesn't exist here.]
